What is Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a relaxing, naturally occurring state of mind, which happens to us every day. Hypnosis occurs when our subconscious mind comes to the fore.
Here are some examples of times when hypnosis might occur naturally.
· Becoming absorbed in a book
· Daydreaming
· Driving long distances
· Becoming absorbed in a task
· Becoming bored
· Just before we fall asleep
· Just before we wake up
The mind can be thought of as having two sections, the conscious mind and the subconscious mind.
The conscious mind is the analytical, logical mind. The conscious mind questions things to find out if they fit with currently held beliefs.
The subconscious mind controls habits, beliefs, emotional responses, physiological responses and learned behaviours as well as automatic body processes.
